Production, Interview, Writing and Distribution
Experience Niseko is a dual lingual digital portal and print magazine delivering relevant information on the Japanese ski resort, Niseko.
The magazine has over 120,000 digital subscribers and prints four magazine issues each year.
80,000 copies of the magazine are published annually (in English and Japanese) and distributed widely throughout Niseko, surrounding areas and key international travel hubs.
I worked on the digital portal and magazine issues between 2018 – 2020. As a member of the magazine commitee and editorial team, I was involved in all aspects of each magazine issue.
Involvement
- Production
Responsible for coming up with themes for each magazine issue and subsequently content planning.I accompanied and directed our in house photographer on photoshoots. I was also responsible for communicating to the designers the look of the magazine and final check before print .
- Interview
I scheduled both Japanese and English interviews through emails and phone calls. At times, I accompanied English speaking team members and acted as an interpreter.
- Writing
As a copywriter for 11 in house brands, I adapted my style of writing to suit the style of the magazine. I covered topics such as food, extreme sports, local people and lifestyle.
- Distribution
I organised the distribution of over 80,000 magazine copies across Japan and other parts of the world. This involved contacting various outlets across the country including hotels, travel agencies, ski franchises.This includes shipment of magazines to partners in Melbourne, Tokyo and Singapore.
Best Inbound Tourism Magazine Award
During my time on the editorial board, Experience Niseko Winter 2019 issue won the Best Inbound Tourism Magazine Award by Nippon Community Contents Association (NCCA).
